Travel made easier: Belize introduces online immigration and customs declaration system

Effective December 1, 2024, the Government of Belize (GOB) has launched an innovative digital customs and immigration declaration system aimed at streamlining the arrival and departure process for travelers. The move signals the authorities' commitment to modernize travel procedures and improve the comfort level for travelers.

The new digital system is available at the Philip Goldson International Airport, which is the country's main entry and exit point. Within three months of the launch, users will be able to familiarize themselves with the platform. Both paper and electronic forms will be accepted during the testing phase. This will ensure a smooth transition to the new digital solution. The authorities plan to fully integrate this system at all ports of entry into Belize from January 1, 2025.

The online immigration and customs declaration system is designed for all travelers entering and exiting Belize. The platform is designed with a focus on user convenience, allowing necessary immigration and customs information to be completed and submitted in advance of travel. This approach not only increases the accuracy of the data provided, but also optimizes the travel process, providing peace of mind before traveling.

Travelers need to enter personal information and details of their trip in the declaration form on the official portal of the Belizean authorities. After entering the data, an arrival form with a QR code and a customs declaration will be generated, which will have to be presented upon arrival in the country.

The new system will significantly simplify immigration and customs procedures, providing faster and more convenient service for all guests of the country. With the peak tourist season approaching, it is expected that the introduction of digital solutions will reduce and eventually eliminate the need for paper forms, making the process of entering Belize faster, more comfortable and efficient.
