Turkey opens visa-free entry for citizens of 6 more countries
In a historic decision that will strengthen tourism and international relations, Turkey has announced visa-free travel for citizens of six countries, including the United States, Canada, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Saudi Arabia. Citizens of these countries can now enjoy the privilege of visa-free entry for tourist travel for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. This move is part of an agreement with the EU to simplify visa procedures and signals Turkey's commitment to making it easier for travelers to enter the country. Turkey's introduction of an online visa issuance system also represents a significant step forward in terms of travel convenience. Citizens from countries eligible for e-visa issuance can now apply online for a visa, which will be approved within 24 hours. The e-visa, which is valid for a single entry of up to 90 days, simplifies the application process as opposed to the traditional method of applying for a visa at an embassy.
Turkey's exemption from the visa requirement is an expression of its far-reaching strategic goals, which include harmonization with the EU's visa policy. This harmonization also extends to certain benefits for holders of diplomatic and service passports, illustrating the countries' differentiated approach to international accessibility.
