Israel implements new entry system for foreign tourists

The Israeli authorities are launching the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) program - an electronic entry permit for foreign nationals from visa-free countries. This will simplify the process of entering the country and speed up border control.

How will ETA work?

At first, the program will work in a test mode for citizens of the United States and Germany. Then the test mode will be extended to all other visa-free countries, including Russia. After that, ETA will become mandatory for all foreign travelers.

The process of obtaining an ETA:

  • Fill out an online form with personal data, travel details and email.
  • In test mode no payment is required.
  • The permit is valid for 2 years and allows you to stay in Israel for up to 3 consecutive months.

Important: ETA is only suitable for tourist trips of up to 90 days. For longer stays, work, study or permanent residence in Israel, a visa of the appropriate category is still required.

ETA is an additional electronic procedure to facilitate tourist entry and reduce border control time. Thus, if you are planning a tourist trip to Israel, after the implementation of the ETA program, you will need to apply for this electronic permit in advance by filling out an application form on a special website. Stay tuned to the news to be informed about all the details of the ETA launch for a comfortable traveling experience.
