New requirements for U.S. nonimmigrant visa applicants beginning April 2025
Important changes in the process of applying for non-immigrant visas to the USA will come into effect from April 2025. All applicants will be required to provide a printed copy of the confirmation page with a barcode to confirm the use of the same DS-160 form when scheduling an interview.
The barcode number indicated in the DS-160 form must exactly match the number used when scheduling the interview. If discrepancies are found (incorrect or incomplete form), applicants may be denied. In this case, they will have to re-fill out the DS-160 form with the correct number and reschedule the interview date.
In addition, starting from April, the application process will include mandatory uploading of all supporting documents in digital format no later than 72 hours before the interview. This change is aimed at simplifying the process and reducing the number of last-minute applications.
The new rules will help expedite the processing of applications, reduce the number of errors and last-minute denials, and ensure that only serious candidates who have carefully prepared all the necessary documents will come to the interview.
