By the end of 2025, travel to the Channel Islands will not require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)
According to the latest statements from the Channel Islands Government, foreign nationals for whom visa-free travel is available will not need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) until the end of 2025.
This applies to the Bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey, which are not currently part of the United Kingdom but are under British jurisdiction in direct cooperation with the UK, including on visa and migration matters.
These rules will therefore be valid subject to direct entry to the Channel Islands. Foreign nationals who plan to travel to the islands with a connection at a UK airport will have to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) in advance, according to the established timetable for the introduction of the ETA permit system for countries with which a visa-free entry agreement is in force for up to 6 months.
The UK has previously announced the full introduction of the ETA authorization system for 83 countries by mid-2025.
