Legalisation for Pakistan

A Legalization Pakistan can no longer be issued since May 2000. Although there is the possibility to verify Pakistani documents for authenticity in response to official or legal aid requests from German authorities, this service is not available to private individuals. Even in these cases, it can take four to six months for the certifications to be completed. Special trust lawyers are used during such verification. There are high costs involved. An apostille is also not possible, as Pakistan is not part of the Hague Convention.

Important Exceptions

There are some certificates that you can submit for verification at the German Embassy Islamabad or the Consulate General Karachi:

  • Pakistani birth certificate
  • Pakistani death certificate
  • Pakistani marriage certificate
  • Pakistani divorce documents
  • Pakistani certificate of celibacy
