The Tourist Visa for Laos is required for all foreign visitors who are subject to visa requirements and plan a holiday in the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia. Laotian immigration authorities divide the tourist visa into two subcategories depending on the maximum length of stay.

The "short" Tourist Visa T-B3 is for holidaymakers staying in Laos for up to 30 days. It can be applied for at the Laotian consulate before the trip without the need for a travel confirmation. The validity of the visa is 3 months (90 days) from the date of issue. Extension of this visa type is not possible.

As far as known, the T-B3 is also available as "Visa on Arrival" upon presentation of a valid passport and biometric passport photo. A visa fee is to be paid. Please inquire directly at the Embassy of Laos or your airline about the requirements and the process of visa issuance on site. The tourist visa for Laos can be applied for at the embassy at least 50 days before the planned date of travel. The date of entry must be specified in the application form.
