Effective January 20, 2023, Malaysian authorities have introduced a new type of multiple entry visa (MEV) for certain categories of citizens. The validity of the MEV is determined on a case-by-case basis and depends on the documents provided, such as tickets, and is left to the discretion of the authorities. Holders can stay in Malaysia for a maximum of 30 days per visit and cannot convert their MEV into other types of Malaysian visas (such as work or residence visas). Businessmen wishing to obtain an MEV can apply online. The following documents are required:

• A passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival
• Color photo 35 mm X 50 mm on a white background
• Invitation issued by a public or private agency (i.e. sponsor) detailing the applicant's intended activities in Malaysia
• Bank statement for the three months preceding the submission of the application form
• Proof of accommodation booking in Malaysia
• Return air ticket

A valid Malaysia visa does not guarantee entry into Malaysia. The final decision on entry is made by the immigration officer at the point of entry into Malaysia.
