Electronic payment for visa on arrival: Cambodia makes travel easier

From September 1, 2024, foreign nationals will be able to pay visa fees on arrival through the e-Arrival portal . Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced this innovation during a public meeting of the Association of Cambodian Oknha and the Association of Housing Developers in Cambodia. Previously, the visa application process required travelers to fill out paper forms at embassies or consulates and wait in lines to make a cash payment upon arrival. The new system will do away with these steps, introducing a completely electronic process.

Passengers will now be able to pay visa fees directly on arrival, bypassing queues and paper procedures at Cambodia's international airports of Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville.

The country's prime minister said that in the future, electronic payments will be used to pay taxes, submit visa applications upon arrival and process visa applications at foreign embassies and consulates.

The decision is expected to be a significant step forward in the digitalization of visa procedures, which should make travel to Cambodia more convenient and attractive for foreign tourists.
