Uzbekistan simplifies residence permit procedures for foreign citizens with the Golden Visa program

On April 18, 2025, Uzbekistan announced the launch of a new simplified procedure for obtaining residence permits for foreign citizens and stateless persons. From June 1, 2025, those interested will be able to obtain a 'Golden Visa' for a period of five years, by making a one-time payment of 250,000 US dollars. An additional payment of 150,000 US dollars will be required for each family member (spouse, children, and parents).

This innovation complements the existing options for obtaining residence permits, such as an investment visa and real estate program. The new approach offers a more flexible and accessible path for affluent individuals who wish to reside in the country long term. These rules are attractive to a wide audience as they do not require the establishment of a business or the purchase of real estate and do not have citizenship restrictions.

Although the program will officially launch in June, the application process will be suspended until the necessary regulations with instructions and requirements are published. However, potential applicants can already start preparing documentation and finances in anticipation of the program's launch.

Uzbekistan actively positions itself as a growing destination for foreign investors and expatriates, which contributes to the growth of foreign capital, entrepreneurship, and interest in elite tourism and real estate in the country. This decision opens up new horizons for international cooperation and invites the whole world not only to visit Uzbekistan but also to stay here for an extended period.
