Cuba: e-visa will become mandatory for all travelers from July 1, 2025
Starting July 1, 2025, all international travelers, except Canadian citizens, will be required to obtain an electronic visa (e-Visa) before traveling to Cuba. This system was launched in a test mode in 2024 and will now fully replace the traditional tourist card (Tarjeta del Turista), which will be definitively canceled as of June 30, 2025. This decision aims to simplify the entry process and improve border control.
An electronic visa allows staying in Cuba for up to 90 days with the possibility of extending for another 90 days. Thus, the total permitted stay in the country will be 180 days.
To successfully enter the island, travelers will need to provide the following documents:
- A passport valid for at least six months after the date of entry;
- Electronic visa and completed digital entry declaration with QR code;
- Proof of travel insurance with medical coverage;
- Round trip ticket.
Obtaining a Cuban electronic visa is an important step towards digitizing the visa application process and reducing the amount of paperwork. This initiative not only increases the efficiency of border control but also optimizes administrative processes.
