Vietnam renews visa-free travel for travelers from many countries until 2028

Vietnam is actively working on improving its tourism infrastructure and simplifying visa procedures, as evidenced by new initiatives in visa policy. These measures are aimed not only at developing tourism, but also at strengthening international relations, expanding trade, and cultural exchange.

Key points of the new visa regime introduced in the recently adopted resolution:

  • Vietnam has announced an extension of the unilateral visa-free entry policy for citizens of 12 countries, starting from March 15, 2025, until March 14, 2028. The new visa-free regime will apply regardless of the type of passport and purpose of the trip, provided that all requirements set by the country's legislation are met. This decision will give travelers a unique opportunity to enjoy the beauty and rich culture of Vietnam without additional visa formalities for up to 45 days. However, it is worth noting that Belarus is excluded from the list of countries eligible for visa-free entry.
Countries eligible for visa-free regime with Vietnam:
Denmark
Finland
France
Germany
Italy
Japan
Norway
Russia
South Korea
Spain
Sweden
United Kingdom
  • From March 1, 2025, citizens of Poland, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic can visit Vietnam without a visa until December 31, 2025, for up to 45 days solely for tourist purposes.

As part of visa policy development, Vietnam aims to create more open conditions for travel and investment, opening up new opportunities for cooperation with the international community. Improved visa policies and tourism promotion programs will contribute to attracting more foreign tourists to Vietnam.
