Identification documents and requirements
Foreign visitors require a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the end of the trip to enter the country. In addition to the regular passport, Kyrgyz entry authorities also accept children's passports and temporary passports with sufficient validity.
Visitors may be asked to demonstrate sufficient financial means for their stay and possess valid tickets for onward or return travel.
All minors need their own travel documents. The child entry in a parent's passport has been invalid since June 2012. It is particularly important with young children that they are recognizable in the passport photo. This helps to avoid problems at border crossings. An up-to-date photo can be added for a small fee at the relevant office.
Minors traveling alone must carry a notarized and translated written consent from their legal guardians into Russian.
Registration in Kyrgyzstan
For stays of up to 60 days, visitors are exempt from the registration requirement. If a longer visit is planned, registration with the so-called OWIR at the place of residence in Kyrgyzstan is required. The OWIR is a locally competent police authority.
Travel and safety information for Kyrgyzstan can be found on the page of the Federal Foreign Office.
