Visa-free entry to Thailand
Before traveling to Thailand, it is important to familiarize yourself with the entry requirements and tourist visa for Thailand.
Currently, citizens of many countries including Germany, Austria, Switzerland and others can visit Thailand for tourist purposes without a visa. If you enter through an international airport, visa-free travel allows you to stay in the country for a maximum of 30 days. If you are coming overland from a neighboring country, the right to stay is also granted for up to 30 days. Don't forget that if you enter visa-free, you must have an airline ticket or other travel ticket confirming your intention to leave Thailand within 30 days.
Travelers starting their Asia tour in Thailand are granted a 30-day stay upon entry. If you visit a neighboring country and then return to Thailand, your first entry permit will be revoked and you will receive a new 30-day stay. However, if you plan to enter Thailand multiple times, please pay attention to the "Visa validity" clause.
If you have any questions or doubts about visa requirements or visa-free entry, please consult the Thai embassy or consulate in advance. You can also contact our experts on our website for detailed information and professional advice.

In the following cases, you need to apply for a Thailand tourist visa from the start of your trip:
- Traveling on a one-way or standby ticket: If you are traveling on a one-way or standby ticket, you will generally require a visa regardless of the expected length of stay and the intent of the trip.
- Trip length is longer than 30 days: If your trip will last more than 30 days, you will need to obtain a tourist visa.
- Citizenship of a country that is not visa exempt: If you have the nationality of a country for which there is no visa exemption, you will need a tourist visa.
- Multiple trips: If you are planning multiple trips and the standard 30-day visa-free stay is not enough, you will also need a tourist visa.

Electronic tourist visa for extended stay in Thailand
Visa-free and long-term tourism
It is no longer as easy as it used to be to extend a stay in Thailand to "infinity" by means of a so-called "visa run" (a short-term trip to a neighboring country followed by a return to Thailand).
Tourists are required to provide a convincing justification for re-entry, including proof of booked accommodation and return or onward transportation tickets (airline or bus tickets). Failure to do so may result in border guards refusing entry.
The popular "Myanmar Border" approach, which was often used by long-term tourists from Koh Samui and Phuket, has become much more complicated with the introduction of the new rules.
