  • One of the busiest airports in the world – Dubai International Airport is one of the busiest airports in terms of passenger numbers, especially in the area of international flights.
  • Energy independence – Despite its oil wealth, the UAE is actively developing solar energy. One of the largest solar parks in the world is located in Dubai and bears the name of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
  • World Falconry Championships Falcons are a national symbol and source of pride in the UAE. The World Falconry Championship is held here every year, with hundreds of birds taking part.

  • Current safety information for the UAE can be obtained from the Foreign Office.
  • The UAE is one of the safest countries in the Middle East. However, women travelling alone should take particular care in taxis or when it gets dark.
  • Even the smallest amounts of drugs are punished particularly harshly.
  • The UAE has an excellent transport network. The Emirates generally recognise the EU driving licence.
  • Women should avoid strapless clothing, hot pants or short skirts. These are considered inappropriate in the UAE.
  • During Ramadan, there may be restrictions outside of hotels. Public eating or drinking, even chewing gum, is then forbidden and punishable.
  • In the larger cities of the Emirates, medical care is good. You can even find English-speaking doctors.
  • In the UAE's major cities, the tap water is sterile. Otherwise, it should be boiled before use.
  • The artificial islands of Dubai are a real attraction. Many hotels and skyscrapers also impress with their appearance and views.
  • Don't limit yourself to just Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The other emirates are also worth seeing.
  • Numerous wellness or luxury hotels attract visitors with great offers.
  • Divers and snorkelling fans will find plenty to keep them occupied in the UAE.
  • Hiking tours in the Hajar Mountains are also highly recommended.
