Under the new visa-free entry rules, citizens of 93 countries can stay in Thailand without a visa for 60 days and extend their stay by staying in the country for another 30 days. The extension request must be submitted to Thai immigration and its acceptance will depend on the decision of immigration officials. The move is aimed at improving the country's tourism appeal and supporting short-term business visits.

Also, by June 2025, all visa-exempt visitors will be required to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travelling to Thailand.

The visa policy changes are part of Thailand's strategy to attract more tourists and business travellers, which should have a positive impact on the economy and tourism infrastructure development.
