Sierra Leone tourist visa

The tourist visa applies only to visitors coming for tourism, business, religious or academic purposes and for routine visits to family and friends. It is NOT intended for persons traveling to the country for other reasons such as employment, study, as dependents, diplomats, etc. In these cases, it is necessary to apply for the appropriate visa before traveling.

The visa is valid for 30 days but can be extended at the immigration office upon arrival in the country. The visa authorizes only one entry, which means that it cannot be used for re-entry after leaving the country.

That visa can be obtained at any of the three main entry points into the country:

• Freetown International Airport, Lungi
• Gendema - Liberia border crossing point
• Balamuya - Guinea border crossing point

Nationals of ECOWAS States can enter Sierra Leone without a visa for up to 90 days. The visa-free regime also applies to holders of diplomatic and service passports of a number of countries. All other foreign citizens need to apply for a tourist visa in advance.
