Chad visa policy

Chad visa requirements depend on the purpose of the visit, nationality and time of stay in the country. If a traveler has an entry permit to Chad, issued by the authorities of the country before departure, it is possible to obtain a visa to stay in the country upon arrival.

Travelers from 15 countries (Turkey, UAE, Mauritania and others) can stay in the country for up to three months without a visa. There are also exceptions for a number of countries that have a diplomatic passport (Kenya, Libya, Benin, Morocco and others). Germany is not on any of these lists, so travelers need to apply for a visa to Chad.

To apply, it is important to make sure that the passport will be valid for six months on the date of processing. It is possible to obtain a visa for a period of 1 to 6 months.

The country provides several types of visas for travelers:

  1. Tourist - issued for tourists and vacationers. It provides for a period of stay in the country up to 30 days. But if necessary, it can be extended for up to 90 days by preparing an application to the General Directorate of Documentation and Immigration, which is located in N'Djamena.
  2. Student - designed for foreign citizens of students who are enrolled in educational institutions of the country.
  3. Work - issued to foreigners who plan to work in the country. The basis for issuance is an employment contract with a local employer, as well as documents confirming education and qualifications.
  4. Business - suitable for travel related to investment, trade, business or participation in exhibitions and conferences. The period of stay in Chad is 30-90 days.
  5. Transit - is intended for travel through the territory of the Republic to another country. It implies a stay of no more than 72 hours.

Vaccinations for Chad

Before traveling to Chad, it is necessary to get an internationally certified yellow fever vaccination. It is important to comply with the strict requirement - the vaccine must be administered at least 10 days before the trip.

If you neglect the deadline, then entry will be denied. This is due to the fact that the country has a lack of clean drinking water and a high risk of intestinal infectious diseases.

The World Health Organization and the Office of Disease Control and Prevention strongly recommend having other vaccinations as well:

If one of the parents is traveling with the child, then from the second parent you need a notarized permission to travel, and if the parents are divorced or do not live together, you need a copy of the court order on custody, even if joint custody is provided.

Other conditions must also be met:

  • If the child is traveling without parents, the mother and father must provide consent (or legal guardian)
  • Power of attorney to accompany the child
  • A passport, the validity of which, on the date of travel should be at least 6 months.

Before departure, do not forget to take out medical insurance for the child and take care in advance of which medical facilities can provide medical assistance in case of emergency. Also prepare a travel kit with antihistamines, antipyretics, intestinal, antiseptic medicines, and bandages.
