It is important to note that to visit the Galapagos Islands, all foreign nationals must obtain a transit control card in advance.

Most foreign nationals can enter Ecuador without a visa for up to 90 days.
Citizens of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay may enter Ecuador with a national identity card without a visa for the longer periods established by the visa regulations in force between Latin American countries.

• Apply for a special tourist visa that allows you to stay in the country for up to 180 days. This can be done before you leave for Ecuador by contacting the consular office of your home country.
• Once you arrive in Ecuador, you can also extend your 90-day visa. To do so, you will need to apply for an extension at one of the Coordination Centers in the country.
• If you plan to work, study, or simply reside in Ecuador for an extended period of time, you should apply for a temporary residence visa.
