Hainan Island opens its doors: new visa-free entry rules
Hainan has always attracted many tourists from all corners of the globe, providing them with the opportunity to travel around the island without a visa. However, the Chinese authorities have recently amended the visa-free entry policy so that visitors can now visit the province not only for tourism purposes, but also for other reasons: to visit family, receive medical care, attend business meetings, attend exhibitions or participate in sporting events.
China's decision to relax its visa-free entry policy to Hainan Island opens up new prospects for travelers from 59 countries. From February 9, 2024, tourists can enter the island from any open port in the province and stay there without a visa for 30 days.
This significant decision was announced by the National Immigration Administration (NIA). It demonstrates the authorities' commitment to developing the region and attracting the attention of investors and professionals in various industries. Hainan Province has great potential for development, and the new visa-free entry policy is an embodiment of China's progress and openness to international cooperation.
The relaxation of the visa-free policy opens the door for travelers who are interested in economic, cultural, medical and educational opportunities in the province.
If you plan to visit the Chinese mainland, you will need a visa appropriate for the purpose of entry. However, tourists and travelers from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, France and Malaysia do not need a visa to stay in China for up to 15 days until November 30, 2024. Citizens of Switzerland and Ireland will also soon be able to enter mainland China without a visa.
Thus, the expansion of visa-free entry to Hainan Island for citizens of some countries is intended to deepen the province's reform and opening up, and promote the development of Hainan Free Port. This is an important step in developing Hainan's economic and cultural potential and another example of China's openness and hospitality.
