India, rich in age-old traditions of medicine and health, is introducing a new initiative in the field of medical tourism - the Ayush Visa. This innovative offer from the country is aimed at attracting foreign nationals who wish to take advantage of India's unique treatment and recovery methods.

The Ayush visa is a special type of visa for travellers coming to India to avail medical services under traditional and alternative medical systems. The term is derived from the Sanskrit word "Ayusmanbhava", which means "long life". This visa allows foreign patients access to various treatments such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy.

This visa requires a copy of the passport, a photograph and a letter from a recognised Ayush medical organisation with information about the patient's medical condition and treatment recommendations. There are two sub-categories for this visa: a patient visa and an accompanying visa.

With the Ayush visa, medical tourists can receive treatment in approved medical facilities and health centres that offer various methods of traditional and alternative medicine. It also allows multiple entries into the country for a period of 60 days.
