Requirements and restrictions for visa-free special permit

If you are taking a ferry or cruise and the ship is heading to Russia, you have the opportunity to go ashore visa-free for up to a maximum of 72 hours in some ports of call. However, this regulation does not apply to solo travelers, but only to individuals traveling by ship as part of a tourist group. You do not need an invitation or a voucher. However, you are required to stay overnight on the ship and remain with your travel group. Typically, the shipping company or tour operator takes care of your permit and you will receive it on board.
