Special visa for diplomatic trips
Visa requirements in Kazakhstan also apply to foreign civil servants. The visa application must be submitted personally before the trip or through an accredited travel agency at the Kazakh embassy. The Diplomatic Visa for Kazakhstan, also known as a protocol certificate, is divided into three subcategories A1, A2, and A3.

Which diplomatic visa do you need?
Visa type A1 is issued by the Kazakh Embassy to the following applicants:
- foreign heads of state and their family members
- parliament or government members and their family members
- members of official foreign delegations and accompanying persons
- holders of diplomatic passports
The following persons can apply for visa type A2:
- Holders of diplomatic passports traveling to Kazakhstan to solve problems or clarify issues on behalf
- Holders of passports from international organizations with a status comparable to diplomatic representatives
- diplomatic couriers delivering mail
- Honorary consuls of the Republic of Kazakhstan and their family members
Visa type A3 is intended for the following group of people:
- diplomatic representatives entering under foreign missions
- consular officers from foreign consulates
- employees of international organizations or their representatives accredited in the Republic of Kazakhstan and traveling to the country for professional reasons
- honorary consuls of foreign states accredited in Kazakhstan, and their families
Validity, Stay and Entry with A-Visas for Kazakhstan
Kazakh entry authorities distinguish between diplomatic visas for single and multiple entries (multi-visa). The maximum validity of a visa is 3 years, with a maximum stay of 90 days per entry.
Diplomatic visa A1 and A2, variants:
- single entry, valid for up to 90 days, with a maximum stay of 30 days
- multiple entries, valid for up to 3 years, maximum of 90 days per entry
Diplomatic visa A3:
- Multi-visa, valid for 90 days within 180 days, with a stay of up to 90 days (for longer stays, accreditation by the embassy is required)
The actual validity of the diplomatic visa depends on the information in the verbal note, which is a prerequisite for the issuance of the entry permit. The A3 permit is only granted with the additional submission of an invitation from the host country, certified by the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
