Russia is expanding its electronic visa program: 64 countries now eligible for e-Visas

On December 5, 2024, the Prime Minister of Russia signed Order No. 3583-r, significantly expanding the electronic visa program for foreign citizens. Under the new order, citizens of 11 new countries can now apply for an eVisa to visit the country.

These include:
Barbados
Bhutan
Eswatini
Jordan
Kenya
Papua New Guinea
Saint Lucia
Tonga
Trinidad and Tobago
Turkmenistan
Zimbabwe

Meanwhile, due to recently signed agreements on visa-free travel with Russia, Andorra and Serbia have been excluded from the list of countries eligible for an electronic visa.

With these changes, the total number of countries, including Germany, eligible for eVisa has reached 64.

Furthermore, the Russian government is considering two key changes to the rules for obtaining an electronic visa. In particular, it is proposed to extend the validity of the eVisa from 60 to 120 days, as well as to extend the permitted stay from 16 to 30 days. However, it is unclear when these changes will take effect and whether they will be approved.

Recall that the electronic visa is available for various purposes, including tourism, business, humanitarian, and private visits. Applicants do not need to provide additional supporting documents, such as invitation letters or hotel reservations. eVisa is issued within five days, and it is provided free of charge for children under 6 years old.

These changes are intended to simplify the visa application process and attract more tourists and businessmen to Russia.
